The Florida Conservation Group, in partnership with the University of Florida’s Center for Landscape Conservation Planning, assisted in identifying the best opportunities for protecting priority Florida panther habitat and corridor conservation priorities in the context of other focal species and natural resource conservation priorities throughout the state. The project included comparisons between panther habitat and other listed species habitat priorities, protection opportunities, and potential future threats. The project identified opportunities for priority panther habitat that overlap with other conservation and land protection priorities within the state, including Florida Forever, Rural and Family Lands Protection Program (RFLPP), and Florida Legacy program priorities, as well as Florida Ecological Greenways Network, other species habitat priorities, and military training and testing priorities including within the Avon Park Air Force Range Sentinel Landscape.
